Mandarin Oriental Muscat is a luxury beachfront hotel in the prestigious Shatti Al-Qurum district, overlooking the Arabian Sea. Designed to reflect the spirit of its coastal setting, the property combines contemporary elegance with Omani cultural influences, balancing calm material palettes with carefully composed architectural details across guestrooms, restaurants, spa facilities, and public areas. Designed by Xavier Cartron, the project was recognized with the LIV Hospitality Design Award for Architectural Design – Middle East. Working closely with the design team and project contractor, Vann-FID was responsible for the design development, engineering, and supply of bespoke decorative lighting throughout the property. The scope included 3,525 custom-made decorative lighting fixtures, incorporating bespoke metal fretwork and handcrafted details inspired by Omani art and architecture, each developed to complement the interior concept and express a distinct sense of place. Following a competitive design selection process, Vann-FID was commissioned to design and deliver the bespoke Ballroom and Spa chandeliers. Inspired by Oman’s natural landscape and cultural heritage, the concepts draw on the sculptural form of the frankincense tree and the crystal waters of the wadis. Conceived as integral Light-Art installations, these features combine sculptural expression with technical precision, reinforcing the hotel’s architectural identity and guest experience.
