InterContinental Residences Abu Dhabi combines contemporary waterfront living with a strong connection to its coastal setting. Working with APG and the wider project team, Vann-FID delivered 1,295 bespoke decorative lighting fixtures for the guestrooms and corridors, together with 895 artworks, accessories, and decorative objects across the guestrooms and public areas. The art programmeme was developed around the marine world, reflecting Abu Dhabi’s relationship with the sea through colour, form, texture, and material. The concept was interpreted through bespoke and curated artworks, sculptures, and accessories, creating a consistent visual narrative throughout the residences. A highlight of the programmeme is the three life-size boat artworks at the main entrance. Custom fabricated in wood, the boats became canvases for commissioned artwork by a locally based artist, bringing together references to Abu Dhabi’s sea, desert, architecture, nature, and cultural heritage. The installation creates a distinctive arrival feature where art, craftsmanship, and local narrative come together.
